WMU : Grant from Danish Shipping Provides 9.82 Million DKK for Fellowships

The World Maritime University (WMU) is pleased to announce the receipt of a new grant that provides fellowship funding from Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S // D/S Orient’s Fond.

The 9.82 million DKK grant will provide seven full fellowships per year for the intakes of 2023, 2024 and 2025 to the MSc in Maritime Affairs offered at the WMU headquarters in Malmö, Sweden.

“We are extremely appreciative of the long-term and ongoing support provided by the Orient’s Fond,” said Dr Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President of WMU.

“The generous increase in fellowship support from the Danish maritime industry is a testament to the global importance of WMU to the industry.”

​​To date, the Orient’s Fond has funded the education of 29 WMU students from 16 countries, with an emphasis on supporting capacity building in West Africa and Asia

Today, the Foundation provides funding to assist a wide range of educational, scientific and maritime work in Denmark, and also at WMU.
