Sustainable Maritime Development Conference tomorrow Tuesday in Jaddah

Saudi Arabia will host on Tuesday a three-day international conference on sustainable maritime development in Jeddah.

Entitled “Sustainable Maritime Development towards 2030 and beyond”, the conference is organized by the Public Transport Authority in partnership with the International Maritime Organization (IMO).

President of the Public Transport Authority, Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Kitack Lim, members and partners of the organization, international leaders concerned with the development of the industry, and leaders of the maritime sectors in the Kingdom will attend the event.

The conference, which will be held for the first time in Saudi Arabia, includes specialized sessions and workshops, with the participation of international and local speakers.

Al-Rumaih stressed that the unlimited support of the wise leadership for the transport industry in general, and maritime transport in particular, had the greatest impact in enhancing the Kingdom’s leading position on the international scene.

Saudi Arabia is now ranked 23rd globally among 174 member countries. The Saudi fleet is comprised of 368 tankers. The giant fleet plays a pivotal role in an important industry that is based on 90% of the world trade movement. This consolidates Saudi Arabia’s position and leadership at the international level and confirms its keenness to transform itself into a global logistics center to achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
