Safe Bulkers Sells Panamax vessels for $13.1M

Monaco-based Safe Bulkers’ fleet renewal program continues apace with the sale of a 2003-built Panamax, Koulitsa, for $13.6m. The sale comes with a forward delivery date within the fourth quarter of 2021. The buyer has yet to be revealed.
Dr. Loukas Barmparis, president of Safe Bulkers, commented: “The MV Koulitsa will be replaced by the previously announced acquisition of the 2013-built, Panamax class, dry bulk vessel to be named MV Koulitsa 2, purchased at a price of $22m with expected delivery within July 2021, which has already been chartered at a gross daily charter rate of $24,000 for a period of 12 months. This transaction concludes the sale of all our vessels built prior to 2004.”

Dr. Loukas Barmparis Ph.D. serves as President, Secretary, Director of the Company. Dr. Barmparis also serves as the technical manager of Safe Bulkers Management Ltd., which he joined in December 2016. Between 2009 and 2016, he was the technical manager of Safety Management Overseas S.A.
Until 2009, he was the project development manager of the affiliated Alassia Development S.A., responsible for renewable energy projects. Prior to joining our Manager and Alassia Development S.A., from 1999 to 2005 and from 1993 to 1995, Dr. Barmparis was employed at N. Daskalantonakis Group, Grecotel, one of the largest hotels chains in Greece, as technical manager and project development general manager.
