The firm attained PAS 2060 carbon neutrality certification.
Saam Towage Colombia has attained carbon neutrality at all its maritime towage operations in Cartagena Bay.
Classification society Bureau Veritas confirmed that the firm correctly ‘measured and offset’ 100% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions produced in 2020 at Cartagena Bay.
The offset emissions included 3,930t of carbon, covering all services delivered for the Ecopetrol Group.
As a result, the company received PAS 2060 carbon neutrality certification, as well as ISO 14061-1 assurance of GHG.
Saam Towage Colombia country manager Joao Paulo Marins said: “Sustainability is a strategic objective and moving forward towards more and more sustainable operations is one of the cornerstones of our management. Because of this, we not only measured our carbon footprint and took steps to reduce it, but we also decided to fully offset it with forestry projects, thus making our operations carbon neutral.”
