ABS : New regulations developed by the PPR Sub-Committee (IMO)

The IMO Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR) Sub-Committee held its 9th session remotely from April 4 to 8, 2022. This Brief provides an overview of the more significant issues discussed at this session, which include matters pertaining to the handling of wastes from Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems, an inspection of Anti-Fouling Systems, and the reduction of Marine Plastic Litter from ships.

While new regulations developed by the PPR Sub-Committee are not finalized until approved by the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), a review of the Sub-Committee’s activity can provide a forecast of future regulatory developments.
