“Mawani” signs 7 agreements to establish an integrated logistics zone and modern technologies in Saudi ports

 “Mawani” signed (7) contracts and memoranda of understanding (MoU) in cooperation with its partners in the public and private sectors;

In order to enhance the food security system through the Jeddah Islamic Port, the authority and the Projects Company for Marine Services signed a contract for the construction of new berths with a design depth of 16 meters for berths (from 26 to 31), and a length of 1100 meters in the multi-goods terminal, with a value of more than 458 million riyals, with the aim of finding new berths it accommodates large bulk grain carriers, develops the port infrastructure to receive larger ships that cover the needs of the local market, and secures the Kingdom’s strategic reserve by increasing the amount of imported grain.

A contract was signed to implement the security system project at King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu with Giza Arabian Systems Company, with a value of about 61 million riyals, which raises the efficiency of facilities. In the same context, Mawani and King Abdulaziz University signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at activating best practices in the areas of research, training and academic affairs related to the work of the maritime transport sector and ports, and enhancing joint cooperation in the areas of occupational safety and health, as well as with regard to maritime law and investigations into marine accidents and injuries.

In addition to protecting the environment from oil spills and pollution from bunkering operations.

The authority concluded a memorandum of understanding with the Saudi Accreditation Center aimed at providing accreditation services to conformity assessment bodies contracting with “Mawani”, and enhancing ways of cooperation in the areas of training and exchange of experiences, in a way that supports national efforts to protect the consumer, and maintains public health and safety in accordance with assessment standards in the Kingdom.

Also, Mawani and the Saudi Company for Electronic Information Exchange signed a memorandum of understanding to develop the new port community management systems and apply the techniques of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Saudi ports, within the framework of the Smart Ports initiative by expanding the services provided in the ports and doubling them from 46 current services to 150 targeted services.
