Mawani: A new agreement to establish a fifth logistics zone in Jeddah Islamic Port with the private sector

“Mawani” has signed an agreement with “DP World” Group to establish a smart and integrated logistics zone in Jeddah Islamic Port with an investment value of more than 500 million Saudi riyals by the company.

The agreement was signed by the President of the General Authority of Ports, Omar bin Talal Hariri, and the Chairman and CEO of DP World,  Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, in the presence of a number of leaders of the transport and logistics system and officials of the relevant authorities.

The Minister of Transport and Logistics stressed that the signing of this agreement comes as a realization of the objectives of the national strategy for transport and logistics services towards consolidating the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics center and supporting the growth of the logistics industry on the Red Sea coast.

Om the other hand the President of the General Authority of Ports, Mr. Omar bin Talal Hariri, confirmed that the agreement aims to establish a logistics zone that extends over an area of ​​415,000 square meters and accommodates about 250,000 TEUs and a warehouse area of ​​100,000 square meters.

It allows the provision of advanced and environmentally friendly electronic services, with the integration of the operations of the Southern Container Terminal with the logistics area, as part of the authority’s constant endeavor to provide integrated logistic areas that enhance the competitiveness of Jeddah Islamic Port and contribute to raising the quantities of transshipment goods, in line with the national strategy for transport and logistics services.
