Italy presses to resume the flow of Russian gas within a week

Rome/ Nova Agency

Claudio Descalzi, CEO of the Italian company Eni, expressed his hope that the problem of the flow of Russian gas would be resolved within a week, the Italian news agency Nova reported.

“The halt to the flow of Russian gas to Tarviso must be resolved within a week with Eni ready to provide guarantees,” Descalzi said, during the Eni awards ceremony.

He added that Russian gas “is already in Austria and Germany at the moment, and it is not in the hands of Gazprom. I hope the problem will be resolved this week.”

However CEO Claudio Descalzi insisted that the drop in flows from Russia’s Gazprom (GAZP.MM) via the Tarvisio entry point in northern Italy flagged on Saturday “has absolutely nothing to do with geopolitical factors”.

The award ceremony of the 2022 Eni Award

The 2022 Eni Award ceremony was held on Monday 3 October. As per tradition, the ceremony was held at the Quirinale Palace and was attended by the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella.

The involvement of Italy’s highest institutional office confirms the value of this increasingly important award for Eni and the scientific community.
