Incidents : Two accidents, in Bosphorus and in the Caspian sea

Research ship IKRYANINSKIY, Volga Caspian Sea Channel

Geo research ship IKRYANINSKIY with 49 crew and scientific personnel on board ran aground on 120-kilometer mark in the Volga – Caspian Sea Channel in the morning Sep 11, while proceeding to Astrakhan, Volga. As of 1310 UTC Sep 11, she was still aground. No breaches, to leak reported. Not clear if traffic is affected or remains open.

Marine Traffic reported that Research/Survey Vessel NEIL ARMSTRONG is currently located at NOATL – Greenland Sea at position 70° 57′ 22.248″ N, 7° 55′ 57.594″ Was reported by MarineTraffic Terrestrial Automatic Identification System on 2021-09-11 21:23 UTC (5 minutes ago)
The wind in this area at that time blows from the West direction at force 4 Beaufort.
NEIL ARMSTRONG (IMO: 9688946) is a Research/Survey Vessel that was built in 2015 (6 years ago) and is sailing under the flag of the USA.
It’s carrying capacity is 1472 t DWT and her current draught is reported to be 4.4 meters. Her length overall (LOA) is 72.54 meters and her width is 15.24 meters.

General cargo ship DUNE 2, Bosphorus

General cargo ship DUNE 2 suffered engine failure in the morning of Sep 11, while transiting Bosphorus in the northern direction en route from Izmir Turkey to Rostov, Azov sea, Russia. The ship was taken to Buyukdere anchorage, Bosphorus, Istanbul. As of 1310 UTC Sep 11, DUNE 2 was still at anchor.

Marine Traffic reported  that General Cargo DUNE 2 is currently located at BSEA – Black Sea at position 41° 9′ 29.124″ N, 29° 2′ 53.88″ E as reported by MarineTraffic Terrestrial Automatic Identification System on 2021-09-11 21:16 UTC (4 minutes ago)
The wind in this area at that time blows from the North direction at force 0 Beaufort.

The vessel is currently at port ISTANBUL, TR and her next destination is ROSTOV-ON-DON, RU
