In the port of Livorno the state of protesters will continues until 4 October

The president of the Guerrieri port authority reopens a discussion table trying to find a difficult mediation between workers and shipowners

With a demonstration in which about 300 people took part that ended under the headquarters of the Port System Authority, the protest lasted ten days in Livorno, the last two in the form of a total strike.

A note signed by Giuseppe Gucciardo (Filt-Cgil), Dino Keszei (Fit-Cisl) and Gianluca Vianello (Uiltrasporti) says “participation in the strike of port workers scheduled for the whole day today is currently around 95%. An excellent result, which confirms the compactness of the workers’ front and their need to obtain answers in terms of safety, health and wages ”

. However, it is not over here because “the state of agitation of the workers of the Livorno port system (Livorno, Piombino and Elba) will continue until next October 4th: up to this date the overtime has been blocked.

The decision was taken at the end of the meeting held today with the president of the Port System Authority Luciano Guerrieri. It was certainly a positive encounter

The confederal unions thanking the port authority for their availability and because “from the next few days it will continue its work of mediation with the representatives of the business world to try to find sustainable solutions, especially in terms of reorganization of port work, reduction of precarious work and containment of overtime.

We appreciate – they say – the commitment of President Guerrieri to try to recompose the thread of dialogue with the business world and to reach a mediation of interests in the field. The workers – after 10 days of strike – are expecting concrete answers.

Filt-Cgil, Fit-Cisl and Uiltrasporti will continue as always to keep the attention high, ready, if needed, to raise the level of protest again “.
