Egypt reviews the efforts made to tighten control over customs outlets

 Dr. Mohamed Maait,  Egyptian Minister of Finance, reviewed a report on the efforts of the Customs Authority to enhance governance at customs ports in cooperation with the concerned authorities.

Egypt Appoints New Head for Customs Authority

 El-Shahat Ghatouri, head of the Egyptian  Customs Authority, stated that the tightening of control procedures at customs outlets contributed to curbing smuggling attempts, preserving state rights, and protecting national industry and Egyptian society from entering dangerous goods or harming national security, noting that 3,360 smuggling operations were thwarted

. During the months of January and February, the prescribed legal measures were taken. The customs value of the records amounted to 334 million and 726 thousand pounds and the total compensation, fees, and fines due amounted to 594 million and 249 thousand pounds.
