Disabled tanker blocked Bosphorus traffic for some 1.5 hours

Product tanker USICHEM on Dec 21 encountered a mechanical problem while transiting Bosphorus in southern direction, while en route from Sulina Romania to Sevilla Spain, with a cargo of sunflower oil. The tanker had to anchor in an emergency in traffic lane, blocking traffic for about an hour and a half. She was disabled at around 0930 UTC, resumed moving under her own power at around 1100 UTC, and safely completed transit. She was anchored at Atakoy anchorage in Marmara sea, understood for inspection.
