There are only four months left to begin with the XXX Latin American Congress of Ports organized by the AAPA Latin American Delegation, which will take place from November 28th to 30th and will be hosted by one of the most important port complexes in the region, located in the Brazilian city of Santos.

On the occasion of its thirtieth edition, the AAPA LATINO 2022 promises to set the agenda, address current issues and position the future trends of this industry, while bringing together the main public and private port actors in one place.

A hundred exhibitor firms from the infrastructure, technology, consulting, innovation and engineering sectors -among others- have confirmed their attendance so far, and the most renowned international referents on port matters will join as speakers.

Distinguished port leaders, executives, managers, directors, consultants, and industry experts from more than 35 countries will also attend the most important port meeting in Latin America.

The academic program is one of the most important attractions of the Santos 2022 edition. World-class experts will address current and contingent issues for the regional industry as well as the upcoming challenges, such as post-pandemic recovery, digital transformation, and investments in infrastructure.

The kick-off will be given on Tuesday 29 with the panel “Scenarios and Predictions for Trade, Shipping and Ports”, in which the recent geopolitical tensions, the current panorama, and the market recovery prospects will be analyzed.

In addition, the classic panel on “Port Investments and Projects in Latin America” will feature once again the top port leaders of Latin American countries, who will review the investment projects in infrastructure, equipment, and technology for the region.

After that, the discussion panel “Energy Transition in Maritime Transport”, which will address matters such as decarbonization, sustainability, and environmental experiences, will also take place.

Afterward, the conference “Port Productivity: Experiences and Recommendations for its improvement” will present the strategies to face new challenges in international trade.

A panel discussion under the theme “Inland Ports and Waterways” will also have its space, in order to address the integration possibilities for the Latin American territories.

Towards the end of the day, the Port of Barranquilla will show how it is getting ready to be the #AAPALatino’s host in 2023.

On Wednesday 30th, the agenda will begin with the panel “Maritime Transport 2030: Countdown to close the Digital Divide” where good governance, the involvement of stakeholders, and the use of smart technologies in favor of port customers, among others, will be addressed.

The “Ports on Alert” panel will deal with issues such as cybersecurity, terrorism, and piracy, among other threats, that force the activity to have increasingly efficient lines of action and risk management.

To wrap up the morning session, the classic #CharlasdePuerto – Strategic Discussions: Dialogue between Shipping Lines, Port Terminals and Port Authorities”, will bring together the most important voices in the industry to give their opinion about the present and future expectations of the actors involved in the business.

The seminar will continue with the presentation “A New Era for Cruise Transport”, which will review the state of the situation and how the cruise industry will move forward.

In the afternoon, the session “Smart Financing for Strategic Growth”, will provide information on financing and investment options for different actors in the port and logistic industry, continued by the panel “Innovative Solutions for the Port Industry” that will bring together strategic suppliers in the field.

Furthermore, for the second year in a row, the icing on the cake of the event will be the Port Industry Award of Excellence, granted by the CIP/OAS and the AAPA in strategic alliance, to honor ports that contribute to the economic and social prosperity of the communities where they operate.

To sum up, three intense days of networking, business rounds, dialogues between the public and private sectors, technical visits to the most important port complex in the region, and conferences dedicated to reviewing the issues that will move the future of the industry await us.
