Nippon Yūsen Kabushiki Kaisha, also known as NYK Line, is a Japanese shipping company and is a member of the Mitsubishi keiretsu. The company has its headquarters in Chiyoda, Tokyo, Japan.
On the 31st, NYK Group, which owns Japan’s leading luxury liner ‘’ Asuka 1’’ & “Asuka 2”, has announced that the Giant cruise ship builder is planning to build the largest new liner under the Japanese flag aiming for completion by Max 2025. According to the people concerned, it will secure 71 billion Yen mainly through co -financing of 30 banks
including regional banks in one of the unique financing methods in Japan’s modern History after world war second. The company plans to aggressively invest in anticipation of the end of infection due to the spread of the new coronavirus vaccine to capture the demand for cruise travel by domestic customers. NYK Cruises (Yokohama), announced on the afternoon of March 31st.

NYK owns the Giant commercial cruise line of Asuka 2 which was built in 1990. The giant cruise ship has become very old, so it was important to see if a new ship would be built. The new passenger ship will be adjusted on a scale of 50,000 to 100,000 tons which exceeds the 50,444 tons of NYK’s Asuka 2 which is currently the largest cruise ship registered in Japan.
In addition, the communication environment in the new cruise ship will be improved so that passengers can use Wi-Fi even while being out in the open sea, in order to support the use of worcation while working and taking vacations.
