The equipment for the VLGCs is expected to be supplied to DSME in May next year

Wartsila has received orders from Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) to deliver its cargo handling system for four new 91,000cbm capacity Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) ships.
The ships are currently under construction at DSME yard in South Korea and are being built for Norway-based fleet owner Avance Gas.

Wartsila received the orders in April and May. The systems are expected to be supplied to DSME in May 2022.
Wartsila gas solutions sales manager Hans Jakob Buvarp said: “Wartsila is the world’s largest supplier of complete cargo handling systems for gas carriers, and there is a good reason for us holding that position.
“We have the technology and we have the in-house competencies that ensure that each customer gets the exact system needed for his specific needs”
Previously, the company supplied similar equipment for a former series of Avance Gas ships.

Meanwhile, at the end of last month, Wartsila renewed its Optimised Maintenance agreement with the Åland Islands-based shipping group Rederi Ab Eckerö for the second time.
As per the five-year agreement, Wartsila will provide maintenances services for the main as well as auxiliary engines in six ships within the client’s fleet.
