After three quarters of 2022 – the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście with a positive operating result

The Szczecin-Świnoujście port team summarized the results of transshipments after three quarters of this year. These are 7.5 percent. better than in the same period last year. Port operators in January-September this year. they handled almost 26.7 million tons of cargo.

The LNG terminal in Świnoujście served by the end of September this year. 39 ships with LNG gas. For comparison, at the same time last year there were 26 of them. Other masses are also positive, with the result of 4.6%. better than at the same time last year.

Declines are recorded in cereals (-8.7%), general cargo (-2%), general cargo (-1.3%) and containers (-15.4%).

The port management forecasts that this year’s transshipment results should be approx. 10 percent. better than the result generated in 2021.

ZMPSiŚ takes actions aimed at the constant development of ports, creating conditions and opportunities to handle more cargo than at present.

Dębicki Canal

After the investment is completed, the port of Szczecin will gain new and modernized quays in the area of ​​the Kashubian Basin and the Dębicki Canal, with parameters adjusted to handling more cargo than today.

The ferry terminal in Świnoujście will be adapted to handle intermodal transport. The LNG terminal is being expanded by building an additional loading and unloading station to service smaller LNG units: gas carriers, bunkers and feeder units.

In turn, due to investments related to the construction of new and modernization of the existing technical infrastructure, both ports will be more environmentally friendly.

The access infrastructure is also systematically improving, including roads and railways connecting the ports with the hinterland.

The undertaking, which will have a positive impact on the economy of the country and the region, and complement the offer of both ports, will certainly be the Deepwater Container Terminal in Świnoujście and an installation terminal for servicing offshore wind farms located in the Świnoujście port.
