The southern German economy hits Corona particularly hard Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, as export-heavy federal states, are particularly affected by the effects of the Corona virus. Industry contributes 27 percent to Bavaria’s gross domestic product, making it a key industry in the Free State. The most important export goods in the south of Germany are vehicles, electrical engineering and machinery. The international supply chains, which also include precursors, are an Achilles heel for the industry.
